Having a GPU more powerful than your CPU may not be as much of a problem as you might think, but the CPU will have to work harder and may not deliver the best performance because it will not have the ability to appropriately handle the demands of the GPU.

The calculator assigns a score to the CPU and another to the GPU, based on various information from their specifications. For CPUs this includes the number of cores, the clock speed, the memory, and the threads. For GPUs this includes the number of shader units, the clock speed, the memory, and the processing power. In the table above, the iK processor is the limiting factor in the bottleneck with the RTX graphics card because it is underpowered for the system.
Understanding GPU and CPU Bottleneck: Solutions to Bottlenecking
With the lower end i K processorthe lower of the two graphics cards are slightly underpowered compared to the CPU, just barely crossing the threshold of what is considered a computer bottleneck.
With the middle graphics cards, the i K shines with a bottleneck score of just a few percentage points, meaning that the CPU and the graphics card will work well together. It is only at the top end of the graphics card spectrum that the i K fails to keep up with its graphics card match, and this processor was still able to match up with the RTXpart of the new flagship series of NVIDIA graphics cardseven if it is a lower model.
Having a processor that is under powered for your graphics card will not take advantage of all the graphics settings your computer has to offer.
It is a waste to spend the extra money on a top of the line GPU when your processor will not be able to take advantage of the enhanced features available from the graphics processor. You would be better served by splitting the difference in cost and getting a slightly better processor or a slightly more modest graphics card. At the very least you can save yourself the money you would otherwise spend on a high end graphics card.
It was far more likely in running these combinations through a bottleneck detector and calculating their percentages that the GPU was the limiting factor, and the processor was over powered for the matchup. In fact, not even the RTX was out of league for the overclockable processor, with a percentage of just 0. It helps that the i K is one of the best processors on the market. Having a graphics card that is weaker compared to the processor is not as big of an issue as it is when the disparity is the other way around.
If you have a more powerful processor, then that means it can deliver the performance necessary to other components of the computer as well, and it is not spending the majority of its energy on making sure that the graphics card is performing well. There is no situation where a graphics card will drag down the performance of a CPU. Before digging into the actual steps involved in determining whether a bottleneck exists between your existing CPU and prospective GPU, we need to briefly unpack what a bottleneck is in practical terms.
When you are playing a video game, every component of your computer is working on some aspect of the overall system. Your CPU is generally responsible for doing physics calculations, it does the thinking for the game AI, runs the game logic, manages animation and so on.

Load up a CPU-intensive simulation or strategy game on the other hand, and suddenly your usually under-utilized CPU is tanking the frame rate instead. The settings you use to play also influence this calculation.
For example, playing at higher resolutions puts more strain on the GPU, slowing it down because it takes longer to crunch higher pixel counts. The higher the resolution, the less of a bottleneck the CPU becomes. Because it is still doing the same work, but the GPU is doing more.
Which means we are probably better off buying a slightly slower card, overclocking our existing CPU or upgrading the CPU at a later date. The Overall Combination score shows us how good this is as an absolute performance combo at ultra settings.

Joke aside, always ask somebody that is experienced in computer hardware optimization, and PC builds for the second opinion. Instead of saying that your graphics card is too weak for your processor, it should tell you that your system or CPU can handle this or better graphics card with ease.
Processor bottleneck is most common in correlation with the graphics card. This means some CPUs cannot handle some better performance GPUs on the market, so graphic cards cannot run to its full potential.
It can handle almost any demanding graphics cards out there, well unless you are pairing it with RTX Ti graphics card, then I would suggest getting a bit faster CPU. Also, Ryzen series is around the corner, so hold your horses and just wait for it if you are in buying spree. With the new Ryzen series, AMD had done really well for himself and the consumers. If one of the components is a huge bottleneck rather than just a slight one and you get a low frame rate, then that's an indication that if you upgrade that component you will get a big FPS boost.

I lowered the graphics settings enough for it to render "free" and the CPU was able to maintain a decent stream of information towards it.
I honestly would expect a bottleneck at p with an GTX using the FX but it wasn't quite big I think the system looses maybe a few fps because of the weak CPU but is able to maintain decent framerate. The was running at 4. I would say the Ryzen will beat it hands down in single core perf and get kicked in multi core performance. Will have to buy a B motherboard and some DDR4 to test that out.
